Salamat Medical Charity performs dozens of eye surgeries during each medical convoy, averaging fifty procedures per mission. In 2022, in the city of El Geneina, Darfur, seven surgeries were performed on newborns suffering from congenital cataracts. These early interventions were crucial in restoring the sight of these children, preventing permanent blindness which would have occurred had the surgeries been delayed until the age of four.
